Scott Kelly, a former astronaut, launches the first NFT and funds $500,000 for Ukraine.

The initial sale’s net revenues will go to an organization that is assisting Ukraine in surviving the Russian invasion.

Former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly has created paintings to commemorate his time in orbit.

Kelly recently unveiled his first-ever NFT, an art project called “Dreams Out of This World,” after spending 340 days on the International Space Station in 2015 and 2016. He believes that the giving, like a classic book that inspired him many years ago, inspires people to aspire for the stars.

“My narrative isn’t like other astronaut stories. Growing up, I was a terrible student who struggled in school and was prone to daydreaming “According to Kelly, who spoke to

“I got my inspiration from Tom Wolfe’s ‘The Right Stuff,'” he explained. “As a result, I am a firm believer in the idea that the right kind of inspiration, delivered to the right person at the right moment, may produce exceptional outcomes.”

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are pieces of data that represent unique assets and are recorded in a digital ledger called a blockchain. NFTs are a component of the metaverse, an emergent digital environment, and Kelly hopes that “Dreams Out of This Reality” will help people understand this perplexing new world.

“I believe that the metaverse, as well as crypto[currency] and blockchain, will play a significant role in our future,” he stated. “It seemed like the appropriate time to get involved,” says the author.

The “Dreams Out of This World” release is a partnership with Orange Comet, a content development firm. Kelly is shown in space with variously reimagined Earths in the background in a sequence of pieces. These items, as well as other of Kelly’s astronaut mementos, were auctioned off today (April 12), the International Day of Human Spaceflight, which commemorates cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s historic 1961 orbital journey.

On the NFT marketplace OpenSea, the auction was set to run for three days. However, the entire collection sold out in just a few hours, raising almost $500,000 in the process.

“I’m thrilled to share that my NFT collection on @opensea has officially sold out.”

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a success! It’s incredible that, in the midst of terrible war, we can join together through art to help the people of Ukraine. Today, we raised almost $500,000.00!” Kelly sent out a tweet today.

The Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), a nonprofit organization that aids disaster-stricken nations and communities, will receive 100% of the net revenues from this maiden drop.

GEM president and founder Michael Capponi stated in a statement, “We are here to help in the face of tremendous catastrophe and crisis, and GEM is very appreciative of each and every effort that comes in to support the mission.”

“Every donation, creative initiative, organization, and partner has a big influence in the long-term success of the long-standing relief activities we are able to deliver as a non-governmental organization,” Capponi said.

Kelly has been a prominent opponent of Russia’s continuing invasion of Ukraine, criticizing it frequently and in the harshest possible terms. This financial detail shouldn’t come as a surprise. One of the latest “Dreams Out of This World” artworks depicts Ukraine’s iconic blue-and-yellow flag rising high above the Earth.

On April 5, Kelly tweeted in both Russian and English, “Putin’s war crimes and the Russian people’s backing or apathy to them has consigned Russia to a very dismal future.”

Kelly, by the way, is no longer the American record holder for the longest continuous human spaceflight. Mark Vande Hei of NASA just shattered the record, returning home on March 30 after a 355-day stay aboard the International Space Station.

Kelly, on the other hand, isn’t angry over her loss of the top slot.

“I think it’s fantastic,” he remarked, “because it demonstrates that we’re making progress.” “It’s in the nature of records to be broken. So I’m ecstatic to see Mark do it, and I’m confident that someone will one day beat his record.”
