Laura-Marie Geissler, a professional racecar driver from Germany, has founded the first-ever NFT-funded automobile racing team. She will form the LMG GT No.1 team in collaboration with Amsterdam Berlin and Unblocked.

Most athletes, such as football players and basketball players, are compensated by their clubs for performing their duties. However, this is not the case in racing, where practically all athletes rely on outside sponsors to keep their careers alive. For female racecar drivers, the situation is much more challenging. This is the problem that Geiisler is attempting to solve with NFTs.

The LMG GT No.1 livery is based on a race legend’s design. Its skin is marked by the incisions made by cosmetic surgeons. It represents the strain placed on female drivers’ physical appearance. At the same time, it’s a protest against women’s objectification in racing. The NFT is a rallying cry for gender equality in the world of racing.

“I want to be judged solely on my driving,” Laura-Marie Geissler stated, adding, “not on my personal life, my appearance, or the sponsors that I find or don’t find.”

A 360° render of the livery is included in the NFT collection, as well as a high-res top image of the design. Laura-authentic Marie’s LMG GT No.1 race car will also have the buyer’s name. Her signature Arai GP-6 helmet will also be mailed to the highest bidder after the auction.

There’s also a set of 100 digital race outfits and 1001 helmets with varied variations and originality. The revenues from the NFT sales will be used to fund Geissler’s racing season in 2022.
